Jacqueline (Jackie) May Fletcher lost her brave fight against breast cancer on 16th September 2005 aged just 52. She lived in Kidderminster, Worcestershire with her husband of 30 years David & had a daughter Tracy & 2 younger sons Martin & Steven. Jackie came from a big family with 2 brothers & 3 sisters all very close & loving.
I write this tribute for the best friend i ever had - MY MUM. I lost my mom to cancer 18 months ago and only now feel like i am really starting to grieve for her. I have recently given birth to a beautiful baby boy who i have called Mason 'Jacky' Howell in her memory - he will never know his nanny & i think that is why the loss of her feels so raw & fresh at the moment.
She really was the most wonderful person in the world a great mother to me & my brothers - a fantastic nanny to my other son Lewis & my brother's children David & Megan. She was also of course a warm & loving wife to my dear dad David - he misses her terribly & is still struggling to cope without her.
My mom was given only weeks to live when diagnosed with cancer for the 3rd time - she had already beaten it twice within the previous 2 years. More than anything i wanted my mom to see me walk down the aisle so my partner Carl & i arranged our wedding as quickly as possible with the help of all our family & friends - we were married within 10 days. It was a beautiful day made all the more special by the beaming smile my mom wore on her face all day.
She died just 3 short weeks after my wedding day - at her funeral we played the song 'Your'e My Best Friend' by Queen because that's just what she was - MY BEST FRIEND.
